Eilve Manglus obtained a master’s degree in jewellery art from the Estonian Academy of Arts. Currently, she is working in UT Viljandi Culture Academy as a program manager and lecturer in Estonian Native Metalwork. She is also actively making jewellery and participating in various art projects in her field.

This workshop will introduce the basic jewellery-making techniques and methods that are necessary for making a silver pendant. Each participant will make a self-designed silver pendant inspired by Estonian ethnographic and archeological jewellery; using techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, stone setting and polishing.

Participants will first draft the design of the pendant and then work with the supervisor who will help demonstrate techniques according to the project’s needs. As a result of the course, the participants know how to use primary goldsmith’s tools.

Each participant can use the jewellery tools on site and will receive the silver for making one pendant. The basic participation fee includes only part of the silver, an extra fee of 20€ will be added to the invoice for the participants who choose this workshop. In case the participant wishes to make an extra pendant, they can purchase silver at the workshop, the price being about 1 euro per gram. The participants can bring their own silver parts, smaller silver coins and beads to use in the jewellery.

This workshop is suitable for beginners, but it is necessary to have good manual skills. Participants who have trouble seeing up close must have suitable glasses for themselves at the workshop since the details are very small.
