This autumn, the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy will once again offer two microdegree programmes that provide a fast and flexible way to deepen your knowledge in cultural entrepreneurship and the creative industries.

Designed for those who wish to acquire targeted skills, improve their competitiveness in the labour market, or take a new professional direction, the programmes are part of the Academy’s one-year English-taught master’s curriculum in Creative Project Management. This curriculum consists of three microdegree programmes:

By completing all three, students have the opportunity to earn a full master’s degree in Creative Project Management at their own pace — for instance, by completing one microdegree per year.

This programme enables participants to develop and test creative project ideas using a range of practical tools. It explores the fundamentals of creative and design thinking, while also offering effective strategies for self-management, including goal setting, time planning, and stress management. In addition, the course analyses future trends in the cultural and creative sectors through the lens of project development. The language of instruction is English.

Participants will gain an overview of business models in creative entrepreneurship and learn how to transform a business idea into a viable project plan. The programme covers essential project management tools and methods, including financial and strategic planning, risk assessment, and quality control. It also includes the development and execution of communication and marketing strategies. Ethical considerations, particularly in relation to copyright and the digital environment, are also addressed.
