Botanical printing is a truly magical process that allows you to capture the essence of nature on fabric. By using plants as natural dyes, you can create stunning and unique patterns that are both beautiful and eco-friendly.
In this workshop, you'll learn the ins and outs of silk and cotton printing. Janika will share her expertise on fabric selection and plant sourcing, demonstrating how to find inspiration in the natural world around you. You'll discover how to prepare your fabrics for printing and learn valuable tips and tricks to achieve the best possible results.
During the workshop, you'll create at least two items: a silk scarf and a towel or shopping bag made from cellulose fibers. To ensure you can continue your botanical printing journey at home, you'll also receive written materials.
All materials and tools are included in the workshop fee, making it perfect for beginners to explore this captivating technique.
With a deep love for the natural world, Janika Solmann brings the beauty of plants directly into her stunning eco-printed creations. Based in her Liiva-ÄTE studio and a small Võrumaa farm, Janika's journey began with a horticultural background from the Estonian University of Life Sciences. But her passion for textiles led her to further explore native textiles at the UT Viljandi Culture Academy.
For nearly a decade, Janika has been mastering the art of eco-printing, transforming leaves, flowers, and other botanical wonders into mesmerizing pat
terns on fabric. Her dedication to the craft extends beyond personal exploration. Janika actively shares her knowledge with others, having conducted numerous workshops of varying lengths
