Two e-learning courses offered by the Music Department

Last semester Viljandi Culture Academy's Music Department started with two free e-learning courses, namely Accompaniment on the Guitar for Beginners and Microphones - the Sound Engineer’s Musical Instruments. As the courses turned out very popular they will be starting again.
Accompaniment on the Guitar for Beginners is an introduction on how to construct, finger and change the most common chord shapes on a six-string guitar and how to play the six popular chord progressions that are ubiquitous in the 20th century popular music. The author and instructor of the course is Kristo Käo, currently a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and a PhD student at Tartu University in the field of educational technology. In cooperation with Margus Niitsoo, Kristo Käo has developed a unique web-based music instrument learning environment known as MatchMySound (TM), which will be utilised by this course.
Microphones - the Sound Engineer’s Musical Instruments is developed by University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy guest lecturer Christoph Schulz. During the course, Christoph Schulz will be assisted by UT VCA music technology lecturer Janar Paeglis and UT VCA sound studio assistant Mihkel Pajupuu. The aim of the course is to introduce various microphones and microphone types for recording live music and working in the sound studio through video lectures, audio and video examples and practical tasks.
MOOC courses are open for registration to all who are interested from UT website.
