UT VCA is taking part of Viljandi Folk Music Festival

Second year, the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy is represented at Viljandi Folk Music Festival with area of its own – the Culture Nest is open to guests in the courtyard of the Museum of Viljandi on Friday and Saturday at 12.00-18.00.

The Culture Nest features:

Children plays by our theatre studies’ students and workshops for children by culture education department

Jew’s harp workshop by the music department and bracelet workshops by the native crafts department

Residents of Viljandi Center for Creative Industries are selling the jewellery and clothes they have made

Vinoteque Mulks with a selection of wines and snacks

Performances by students and alumni of the music department and employees of the Culture Academy

In the near vicinity of the Culture Nest, the exhibition “Taevatrepp“ by Estonian native metalwork speciality is displayed in the Viljandi Old Water Tower.

On Friday, July 29 at 6 p.m there is 25+25 jubilee gala of Viljandi Folk Music Festival and UT Viljandi Culture Academy at A. Le Coq Kirsimäe stage  - contemporary renditions of the music by Alle-aa, Untsakad, Oort, Vägilased, RO:TORO, Svjata Vatra, Paabel,Torupilli Jussi Trio, Curly Strings and Trad.Attack! will be played. A unique band of students and lecturers from UT Viljandi Culture Academy will be providing musical backgrounds to the soloists from these bands.
