Nordic Common Studies Week in Viljandi

From January 14^th - 19^th 2013 UT Viljandi Culture Academy’s Performing Arts Department hosts exchange students from different theatre schools of Nordic and Baltic Countries. Five foreign students are coming from Iceland Academy of Arts, Tampere University, Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy, The Nord-Trøndelag University College and The Danish National School of Performing Arts.

At the same time 8 academy’s theatrical studies students go to different theatre schools in Tampere, Copenhagen, Odense, Reykjavik, Stockholm and Nord-Trøndelag.

Nordic Common Studies is an intensive study project that is organised for the 3^rd time within the Norteas network and is financed by Nordplus programme. Norteas is a Nordplus network for Nordic and Baltic Theatre and Dance Institutions of Higher Education.

All schools taking part of the project prepare a special study programme for a week to host incoming students. Simultaneously, all schools also send some of their theatre studies students to partner schools where they study and live together for a week with local students. This synchronical study programme between different network schools enables the students and the lecturers of home schools to take part of the international environment as well.

Viljandi’s week was designed by theatrical studies programme manager Jaanika Juhason. Workshops and seminars are delivered by her and department’s lecturers: Garmen Tabor, Mall Noormets, Merle Saarva, Raido Mägi, Paul Bobkov and alumnus of dance art studies, Kardo Ojasalu.
